Today we are going to talk about wrapped or locked bases vs. flat bases!
What is the difference? If you look at the picture above you can see that the wrapped base is much thinner than the flat base. If you look at the lower part of the image it shows that a wrapped base creates a circular configuration and the flat base creates a straight line.
Which one is better? We recommend striving for wrapped bases because they wrap around the natural lash. As you can see the wrapped base creates more surface area for the adhesive, completely surrounding the natural lash, this improves retention.
We don't want bulky bases! Why are bulky bases bad? For one, they are less comfortable. Any amount of discomfort can lead to your client picking and pulling at their lashes. Another con to flat base is that it can easily be snagged and pulled off when a client is brushing their lashes. The last thing I want to point out is that there is less surface area for the lash extensions to cover the natural lash and coat it with adhesive. All of these things cause poor retention.
We hope this tip helps you improve your volume lash skills! Let us know what you think in the comments!
